Ladybug and Cat Noir: The Movie
I saw this movie being mentioned a couple times on social media, but when I first became aware, I had not yet caught up with the latest episodes of the main series. Thankfully, I managed to avoid spoilers, for the most part, except for that one fan art that I liked on Tumblr. So, over five months after its initial theatrical release, I got around to seeing it. The movie was sweet, romantic, and action-packed, just like the series it was based off of. The first thing I noticed about the movie was that the character models all looked... different. The art style looked closer to what I tend to see in most recent Disney movies. I wonder what the reason(s) for the different art style was. I didn't expect that the movie would be a musical, also like a lot of Disney movies. I enjoyed the songs, though I would've preferred if they were sung in the characters' normal voices. Speaking of voices, I thought there was something different about the characters' speaking voices too, but when I
Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 (part 2)
I realized just two days ago that the fifth season of Miraculous Ladybug was completed, bringing the season's total episode count to 26 episodes. Unlike the previous times I've watched the episodes, though, I did not binge-watch all of the episodes in one night, instead spreading it over two nights. This season had lots of changes and things that surprised me. First, Marinette and Adrien finally got together! After so much struggling from her end, Marinette eventually managed to tell Adrien how she really feels about him. It was such a huge step for her. I would've liked it to have happened sooner, but I guess it's better late than never. I never would've guessed that Zoe had feelings for Marinette, but I can't say I blame her. Still, I was glad that Zoe was able to accept that she would likely not have a chance with her romantically. So, Marinette used to have a crush on Kim, the prankster from her class? What did she see in him? Sure, he was good-looking, but he was inconsiderate
Elemental
Almost four months after its release, I finally got around to seeing Elemental. Yes, I did want to see this in a movie theater, but ultimately, I decided to watch it on Disney+. I can say I definitely enjoyed it. I liked how the fire people were depicted as immigrants, complete with their own native language. Ember's parents experienced prejudice for being, well, fire people and opened their own business. As Ember was growing up, I was convinced that she wanted to take over the store, after her dad's retirement. Yeah, she was short-tempered, even for a fire person, but it seemed that that was just a flaw she had to work on. Dealing with customers, especially a lot of them at once, is hard. The teaser for the movie showed Ember and Wade meeting in a train, so it surprised me that, in the actual movie, they met when Wade flowed into the basement of Ember's family store. It wasn't the most romantic way for them to meet, but it made more sense for the plot. Ember and Wade were opposites
The Little Mermaid (2023)
Admittedly, I'm not too interested in most live-action remakes of classic Disney movies, though I did enjoy the live-action remake of Cinderella. But the day after my gynecologist appointment, my sister expressed interest in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. I wasn't initially planning to see it, myself, but after that, I was open to at least giving it a try. So, we saw it together on Disney+, and we both enjoyed it. The overall plot is mostly the same, but I can definitely say that this version added some stuff that the 1989 classic didn't touch on. It was established that humans and mer-people were considered enemies, with the crew on Prince Eric's ship actively trying to capture a mermaid. There was more character depth for the prince, himself, who was adopted at a young age. It was clear that he and Ariel were actually quite similar, even before they met! Not only were they both young royalty, but they were also adventurous and not content with the traditional royal
